Allowing for the merger and blending of the latest fashions and trends to go with the refurbishing and designing of these lost eras of time and making them new again. The reclaimed wood looks are becoming one of the most popular woods looks in the market. If you are looking for the reclaimed wood look from a farm or from the industrial revolution, these new wood looks are inspiring. The richness in color coupled with the feel and texture gives you the appearance of real hard wood floors. With the minimal upkeep of tile. With busy schedules, pets, and children the low maintenance and durability of tile makes these the best choice for those who want to have wood floors but don’t have the time, or want to maintain hard wood floors.

Walk in Shower Ideas

Thrill Rock

Thrill Rock

One of the many new and wonderful ideas for tile is the walk in shower. Such a wonderful concept and it eliminates that ugly ring around the tub. It also makes your bathroom wonderfully open and luxurious as well.

If you are thinking of building a walk in shower, or remodeling one the first thing you will need to consider is the shower pan for your walk in shower. Which will mean 2x2s or 3x3s tiles to build your shower pan if you do not want to have pebbles, or other different mosaic tiles to be put in your walk in shower. Why is that you may be wondering? The reason is pretty simple actually. The pitch of your shower pan for your walk in shower needs to allow the water to drain. So you need a tile small enough so you can slope the tile down and have the shower drain properly. Otherwise, you will have drainage issues or a puddle of water that will sit in your walk in shower.

Luckily, here at Designer Tile Plus we have 2x2s and 3x3s available in many of the tiles we stock and show in our showroom. We also have surface bullnose in many of the tiles we stock so you can have a beautiful finished clean edge for your shower. With all of this available you will find no need to try and match or find complimentary trim pieces or 2x2s to go with your wall tile. Your walk in shower project can be as easy as any building or remodeling project can be for you.

Las Vegas Wall Tiles

Gallant Carrara

Gallant Carrara

One of the many things that is easy to remodel in your home is the bathroom. Whether in stone, ceramic, or procelain tiles the difference between the really nice tiles and the cheap tiles is only a couple hundred dollars. But the difference in the completed project between the cheap and the expensive is dramatic.  The hard part is when you are doing the walls in tile is finding a finishing piece such as a bullnose instead of having the raw edge of the tile showing or the raw edge of the stone. Giving your bathroom an unfinished look when you are done tiling your bathroom walls.

Botticino Classico

But as luck would have it at Designer Tile Plus we have trim pieces such as bullnose available in our wall tiles and floor tiles that we stock at our store in our warehouse. And we are set up to bullnose our stone and re-polish it so it looks perfect when it is installed. Even if you do not want to bullnose your stone we can flat polish the stone so you don’t have a raw edge and it looks finished when you are done with the walls.

But if you are thinking of dressing up your bathroom even more you can always trim out your wall tiles with contrasting colors or taking your granite or marble counter top and seeing if it comes in a 12×12 and ¬†cutting it into 2, 3, or 4 inch strips and bullnosing the edge and trimming your wall tile out that way. If you would like to see more ideas come on down to our showroom at 6290 South Pecos Road Suite 100 in Las Vegas, Nevada and see what else you may want to consider for your bathroom.

12x24s for the Bathroom

Aventis Cotton and Nut

One of the new and exciting things that seem to becoming the new popular thing for bathrooms is using the 12x24s on the bathroom walls. And one of the great things is that since we are working with Florida Tile they make trim pieces for all of their series. So any of the 12×24 size tiles by Florida Tile can be used to go up the walls. and if you are building a shower pan for a walk in shower Florida Tile also makes 2×2 that is also available in all of their series. Making it even easier when you are looking and considering remodeling your bathroom.

But should you go with one of the 12x24s that come from one of our other factories and they do not have a bullnose for that tile specificially what we could do is use a contrasting color to trim the tile out. Or what we could do is take a piece of the 12×12 marble or granite and cut it down to the size you would like and bullnose it so you can have a nice finished looking bathroom when it is done. It also can help give you a nice tie in with your bathroom counters.

But the nice thing is that with Florida Tile and a few of our other factories we buy from we stock the surface bullnose with the 12x24s, 18x18s, and 12x12s we do carry. Unfortunately, not all the factories we buy from make bullnose. But on the ones that do we did bring in the trim pieces for the tile.

Popular 12×24 Tiles in Las Vegas

Aventis Cotton and Aventis Nut

The New Fashion Trend in Tile is no longer square tiles but rectangles. The most popular is the 12×24 tile size that people are using on their floors. 18x36s and 24x48s are also being used as well. But the easy installation of the 12x24s make it the most dominate size sold today.

18x18s and 16x16s are still being sold but the difference is the 12x24s give you a more modern look than the traditional square tiles. The difference between using a 12×24 than the traditional 18×18 is a quarter of a square foot so you are not adding tons of grout to your floor with going with the 12x24s.

Urbanite Gild

Urbanite Gild

Many of the more modern looks that are available are only available in the 12×24 format verses the 18×18 or 16×16. Some of them are available in the 20×20 and 24×24 format but not all of them are. So if you are looking for a more modern looking floor the easier selection is in the 12x24s than an any other size.

Even if you decide to go with the more traditional square tiles on the floor. The 12×24 is the most dominate of the tiles being used on the walls. It makes a dramatic statement on the walls as it does on the floor. And compared to the 3x6s 4x4s and the traditional 6x6s that you see on the walls it is stunning to see, and with the fewer grout lines much easier to clean and maintain.

Bathroom Designs

Cinema Ivory Lace

Cinema Ivory Lace

We have been working with some of our customers on their bathrooms and we thought to take some of the ideas we have done and hopefully help more people designing a bathroom they love.

Everyone it seems does not want the 4×4 white tile they see in their home. Now some of the common things we have seen our customers do is use are 12×12 tiles, 9×18 tiles, 12×24 tiles, or even 18×18 or 20×20 tiles. One of the cool things about carrying Florida Tile is that they do make a surface bullnose with all of their tiles as well as 2×2 if you decide to go with building a shower pan. But what are customers have done is taking the granite color from their counter in the bathroom and having us take the 12×12 cutting it and bullnosing the edge to trim the bathroom walls instead of going with the bullnose that matches the tile. Allowing the Counters and walls to flow even more together.

Quartz Liner

Quartz Liner

One of the other things we have been doing is making a listello or liner to go around the the center of the bathroom walls using the counter top granite as one of the colors in the liner and another color or two to make the liner. Allowing our customers to have a designer quality bathroom without spending a small fortune to do it. With some of our liners it is even possible to add in little decorative pieces on the back and side walls giving you a bathroom that is even more unique.
