Matching Tile with Designs

The Medallions and Decorative Pieces that we make over at Designer Tile Plus, we would like to think of as unique. We like to think of  them that way because our customers have a choice in the colors and the size of the Medallions and Decorative Pieces. This allows our customers to match the color and theme of the tile they are using to their designs.  Such as going for a more modern look or going for the more cooler tones such as the greys. Which is very popular right now for the more contemporary or modern looking home. Or going the more traditional colors of beige and browns. Or instead of going with greys or browns you decide you want more color such as red.

Changing the colors of the Decorative Pieces and Medallions to better suit the colors of the tile will give a better flow and allow for them to stand out better on the floor as you flow throughout the house. Using accents in the brown and beige colors will stand out in a grey floor but probably not in the way you would like.

When we change the colors on the Medallions and Decorative Pieces the different colors and the placement of them will give the whole design a different feel and look. and before we send the medallion or the decorative pieces out to your home we let you come in and take a look at them and give your final approval. Allowing you one last chance to change the colors before they leave and make their way to your house to be installed.

Accenting Your Tile Floors

The biggest space besides your walls in your home is the floor. And a sea of floor tile on your floor can be overwhelming for anyone to consider. Such a large area with only one color or design can be boring and uninteresting. But it does not have to be this way. Putting in Decorative Pieces, using liners, and listellos are a great and effective way of adding depth and interest into your floor at a very minimal cost. Allowing you to accent and draw attention to areas of your house such as going down your hall, or highlighting your new dining room table.

With a liner or a listello you can give the appearance to a throw rug on your floor that is simple and elegant. And if you change the way the tile is set you can do away with trying to keep the grout lines matching up on both sides of the liner or listello.

Putting in a Decorative Piece occasionally when you are doing your floor can sound like a tall order if you are worried about cutting the corners and putting the decorative piece and getting them all squared up. But luckily we make them so we have the capability of making them the same size of the tile. So no cutting is required at all. Just leave the space open and put the decorative piece in place of the tile.

Tile Patterns with Decorative Pieces

One of the Best things when we are doing tile patterns is how easy it is to use Decorative Pieces with them. Making a Decorative Piece the size of the tile. No cutting or waste is involved when we make our decorative pieces that way when you are laying your tile and they are very easy to install.

The other nice thing is if you are putting a medallion in your home it is very easy for us over at Designer Tile Plus to incorporate the Medallion Design into your Decorative Pieces. Giving your home a nice easy way of keeping everything uniform instead of trying to mix and match designs and looks with your tile.

To help our Customers we usually try and tell them for their homes to never put the Decorative Pieces no closer than one in sixteen tiles. That way it gives you a better chance of not covering them with furniture when your project is completed. In some homes it may even be better to go one in twenty or more depending on how much furniture you do have.

With just a few of these designs inserted into your floor your home will no longer be the same as other homes it will be as unique as you are.  Because at Designer Tile Plus you can choose the colors, design, and size of all our Medallions and Decorative Pieces, making them truly one of a kind.

Decorative Pieces for the Floor

Eternal Star

When you are using Decorative Pieces  in our floor we always wonder how many and where they go. In a general installation it is our recommendation that you should have them no closer than one every sixteen tiles. This way when you are installing them in your floor you have better discretion on where they go inside your house. The worst feeling is knowing that once moved all your furniture back into place and half the decorative pieces are now covered.

One of the nice things at Designer Tile Plus is that we make all the designs at our store, at 6290 South Pecos Road Suite 100, the decorative pieces can be done in the colors and size of your choice. So what you are seeing is just a small fraction of what is available. The sizes and the colors are all mutable so you can choose exactly what you want to go into your home. You are no longer looking at what you see is all there is. The sky is truly the limit here at Designer Tile Plus.

As the this picture of Grandeur Elegant Amber in a Pin Wheel Pattern is a nice example of not only making the Stephano Design better suited than our traditional brown colors but also making the design replace one of the 12×12’s in the pin wheel pattern. Removing any need for cutting corners when installing the tile to add the decorative piece while installing.

So if you want that true designer look without that designer price come on down and let us help you choose the design and colors you want in your decorative pieces.  Because here at Designer Tile Plus we specialize in Designer Quality at Outlet Prices.

Tile Patterns For Your Home

All of us want to make our home unique.  In flooring we see floors set straight and floors set on an diagonal. But is that all we can do on the floor, without putting in a medallion or some other kind of mosaic work?

With most floors it is easy to make a change from a straight or a diagonal installation. Simply by installing a tile in a pattern suddenly you go from having the same pattern everyone has to a completely different floor. And one that you can walk into many of the homes in Las Vegas and else where and never see this pattern repeated on the floor.

Even using a simple stagger joint pattern can make your home truly unique. Offsetting the tile by half or thirds is a very simple pattern to do. The question after that is usually does offsetting your tile by a half or a third cause you to waste more material when you are setting the floor. And the answer is no. When you cut the tile in half you already have the next row you are using that cut. If you are off setting your tile by thirds you have the next two rows. So while you may be cutting more tiles, you are not wasting more tile when you are setting your floor. The next question that is usually on everyone’s mind is, does setting your tile this way take you more time? Initially, yes it does but only during the initial start of the project. Once you get  the pattern you chose going in a few hours you will be moving right along having the floor installed.

Now if you want to make your home even more unique you may be thinking of using more than one size of tile. And if that is the case, you will need to keep the pattern not only firmly in your mind when you are installing your tile but also when you are purchasing your tile. For example a true Versailles pattern will have seven different sizes that you are setting when you are doing your tile project. More commonly used patterns will use two, three, or even four different sizes.

The pattern when you are setting your tile will give the appearance of being random when you start using three sizes or more. And the more sizes one uses means the tiles should be calibrated so they can be used in a pattern. Calibrated means that the tiles are designed to be used together in a pattern.

In most patterns this is very important if you want to maintain a proper grout joint. But if you are doing a step pattern, or a pinwheel pattern this is can be less of a concern for you. But as long as you stay consistent doing the pattern the way you start, you should never run  into cutting one of the tiles into a different shape in the middle of your floor.

Once you figure out your square footage at Designer Tile Plus and you decide to go with a pattern with 2, 3, 4 or even 7 pieces. We will simply break down how much you need in every size that you will need to do the pattern you want to do. Our number one goal when you are doing a pattern on your floor in our store is to get the right amount of each size. That way when you do your pattern you are not running back and forth from your home to our store.
